This is another borderline case since lots of lawyers are involved. However, Prince is a "local" guy to anyone from Minnesota and I've followed his fights with the music industry for years.

Here's the legal-speak explanation of how his current effort to control the use of his image on commercial sites is NOT SUING.

"The action taken earlier this week was not to shut down fan sites, or control comment in any way," the statement read. "The issue was simply to do with in regards to copyright and trademark of images and only images and no lawsuits have been filed."

Three websites published copyrighted images and live photos from Prince's London concerts, according to AEG. "Mediation between the parties is currently resolving the matter," the group's statement said."

Father says pool owner wasn't at fault in child's death

EDWARDSVILLE — Scott MacKenzie is well aware that his reaction to the death of his daughter is hardly what people would predict. Twelve-year-old Caitlyn was apparently electrocuted after she got out of a friend's swimming pool Sunday.

Anger and resentment would be perfectly understandable emotions. MacKenzie could easily be overwhelmed with frustration and rage at the very thought of a young life snuffed out in a freak occurrence.

Yet the 33-year-old insurance agent speaks calmly, even warmly, about the man who owned that pool. It's a testament to the bond between MacKenzie and his best friend, Billy Wood, who is the last person his daughter saw.

"I know what people would expect, but I have no anger," MacKenzie said Tuesday evening from his Edwardsville home. "This is my friend. I know, with all my heart, he did all he could."

Just three posts into the not suing blog and I'm thinking it's time to have a rubric to judge whether "not suing" is all that newsworthy. After all, if you're already a fairly unsympathetic sort suing isn't going to add any redeeming qualities to the public's perception of your character.

New Jersey Mom NOT Suing!

Nita Lawrence, whose son Shykem was paralyzed in a scrimmage football game between Woodrow Wilson and Eastern Regional high schools on Aug. 25, said Monday she never gave a Michigan lawyer authorization to file paperwork naming both high schools in a potential $10 million lawsuit.
