This is another borderline case since lots of lawyers are involved. However, Prince is a "local" guy to anyone from Minnesota and I've followed his fights with the music industry for years.
Here's the legal-speak explanation of how his current effort to control the use of his image on commercial sites is NOT SUING.
"The action taken earlier this week was not to shut down fan sites, or control comment in any way," the statement read. "The issue was simply to do with in regards to copyright and trademark of images and only images and no lawsuits have been filed."
Three websites published copyrighted images and live photos from Prince's London concerts, according to AEG. "Mediation between the parties is currently resolving the matter," the group's statement said."

But will the mother and step-father sue?
Hat tip to Achenblog boodler Wheezy for directing us to this story. To quote Wheezy, "It looks like someone is 'not suing' for real. But that's just Dad and stepmom - what do you want to bet Mom and stepdad DO decide to sue?"
Father says pool owner wasn't at fault in child's death

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

EDWARDSVILLE — Scott MacKenzie is well aware that his reaction to the death of his daughter is hardly what people would predict. Twelve-year-old Caitlyn was apparently electrocuted after she got out of a friend's swimming pool Sunday.
Anger and resentment would be perfectly understandable emotions. MacKenzie could easily be overwhelmed with frustration and rage at the very thought of a young life snuffed out in a freak occurrence.
Yet the 33-year-old insurance agent speaks calmly, even warmly, about the man who owned that pool. It's a testament to the bond between MacKenzie and his best friend, Billy Wood, who is the last person his daughter saw.
"I know what people would expect, but I have no anger," MacKenzie said Tuesday evening from his Edwardsville home. "This is my friend. I know, with all my heart, he did all he could."

T-Shirt Vendor Finds Commercial Opportunity in Not Suing
As if you didn't already have enough stupid T-shirts with once topical sentiments plastered across the front. Now you can have this "Not Suing Borat" shirt. Check it out here, just be sure you have room in the drawer next to your "Vote for Pedro" shirt. (Not entirely snarky, I have a couple of those myself.)

OJ Not Suing over Derby Snub
Just three posts into the not suing blog and I'm thinking it's time to have a rubric to judge whether "not suing" is all that newsworthy. After all, if you're already a fairly unsympathetic sort suing isn't going to add any redeeming qualities to the public's perception of your character.
Here's the link: AP story on Colorado's News 9 web site.

NOT Suing Blog Launches
Welcome. Sometimes people acknowledge that bad things happen and then get on with their lives without compensation from the blameworthy, or not blameworthy but easily targeted.
Today's examples:
Steve Stanton- Largo, FL city manager fired after news of his gender reassignment surgery was leaked. Read more here:
Stanton says he won't sue
Vet's Family Says No Lawsuit after son is turned away from VA hospital and commits suicide.
A guy is not suing Sony for his PS 3 catching fire. Check it out:
Guy says, "I have homeowner's insurance."
Last summer Tom Petty did not sue the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Too lazy to find the link again, so sue me!
